Celtic Aire
This two hour show airs twice a week, first on Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. and then again on Tuesday nights at 8:00 p.m. (minus nine hours GMT). I play Irish, Scottish, Breton, Galician and English folk music with a special emphasis on North American artists. I also showcase new releases from Celtic artists from around the world. I'm not afraid of synths and drum machines, but I keep it REAL. You don't have to be a big name recording star to be on my show. I play what is fresh, clean and genuine. I also do interviews with locals and the international jet set when they come to town, like Tommy Peoples. Send me your stuff.

Celtic Highway
An 11 hour loop of tunes interspersed with the occasional song. Recordings range from Leo Rowsome to Flook, with a general tendency towards a more modern style of ITM, plus some Scottish and Gallician stuff. If you're not expecting pure drop, this a great station.
On the down side, to the best of my knowledge, it's always the same 11 hours of music and never changes, so if you listen to the staion all day, things might get repetetive.

Mike McGoldrick Online BBC Cambridge Folk Fest Gig
Thought I might as well post this here too. Not sure how long the link will be up for, but it should be good for the next few weeks. The gig was part of the cambridge folk fest and is due to be on bbc 4 (digital tv) in a few weeks time. As it was recorded for tv the sound and picture quality is top notch. Its the full big band and they're well on form!

Mo Cheol Th? (submitted on January 3rd 2003 by bflan59)
Presented each Sunday morning on RTE and archived for a week or until the next show. Presenter: Ciaran MacMathuna. One of the collectors of Irish tunes in the field some years ago, he presents a mix of tunes, songs, poetry and recitation. A good bit of nostalgia. Once in a while he presents field recordings he did in the '50's and '60's or talks about his experiences at that time. This week's show (12-29) has a description of a Midsummer Eve dance in Sweden when MacMathuna was visiting "many years ago" (one of his favorite expressions) along with a Swedish fiddle tune played by an Irish fiddler. This show has been on the air for more than 30 years. I first heard it, muffled, through the kitchen door of a farmhouse near Navan where we were staying a couple of years ago.

Fiddle Jam is actually titled "Bonaparte's Retreat". Also played second night NWSS 2003. It was good this time around, but not nearly as bone chilling as the first time. Grab that if you don't have it. I believe it's the 6/28/03 show (could be wrong on the date).

Subject: Songs in a major key make people happy
Thanks for posting this so quickly. This is a great recording and the most entertaining set of the Horning's Hideout String Summit weekend. The naked guy really surprised both the band and the audience, but the band's quick wit calmed the crowd and made for great material for jokes later in the set and the remainder of the weekend. I'd say the highlights for me were Ben, Bryn Davies and Greg Garrison trading bass licks and then all 3 playing the same bass at the same time, the fiddle jam, and of course Mr. Thile for the second half of the second set. Highly recommended !!

There's some great banter pre-Kentucky Mandolin after a naked tripping guy gets on stage and tries to hug Jeff and Chris then jumps into the crowd and gets rounded up by security.
Fantastic show. Great recording. Makes me want to get up on stage naked.

Rencontre avec Lynda Lemay
[Le dimanche 30 janvier 2005]
Franco Nuovo rencontre l’artiste. |
